Visiting Entrepreneur Program

Digital Brisbane’s Visiting Entrepreneur Program attracts global technology entrepreneurs to address the local entrepreneurial community, in a bid to encourage and foster high-growth startup success stories.

Speakers include Australians who have successfully taken their own startup idea into global markets, sharing their learnings and expertise with the next generation of business leaders.

Josephmark

Young Brisbane entrepreneurs Jess Huddart and Ben Johnston are continuously growing with their industry. The Josephmark founders joined the Visiting Entrepreneur program in May 2017. They shared their journey to becoming industry leaders,  the importance of embracing emerging markets, how to manage personal relationship in business and what the future holds.



Tristan Pollock

Tristan Pollock 

Tristan is an Entrepreneur in Residence and Venture Partner at 500 Startups in Silicon Valley. He was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in May 2016, where stakeholder engagement included public lectures at local startup accelerators (QUT CEA & Impact Academy). Roundtable with members of council on urban innovation and creative spaces. Roundtables with Brisbane’s investment community and a regional visit to accelerators in the Sunshine Coast.

Dwight Gunning

Dwight Gunning 

An Australian software engineer now based in Amsterdam. Founder of Knownly. Actively involved in helping build the Amsterdam startup community. Dwight was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in March 2016, where stakeholder engagement included public lectures at local startup accelerators (RCL, QUT CEA). Roundtable discussions with industry and state government. Regional visit to accelerators in Townsville.

Chris Burry

Chris is a member of US MAC’s management team. Prior to that he was a founding member of Avanade, a joint venture between Microsoft and Andersen Consulting. He was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in March 2016, where stakeholder engagement included public lectures at local startup accelerators (RCL, QUT CEA). Roundtable discussions with industry and state government. Regional visit to accelerators in Townsville.

Chris Luebkeman

Visiting Entrepreneur 

Director for Global Foresight and Innovation at Arup, London. Chris’s mission is to facilitate conversations about how to best embrace change and its effects on the built environment. Chris was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in March 2016, where stakeholder engagement included a partnership agreement with the World Science Festival. Hosted a joint function with City Smart about future of cities and civic innovation to an audience of key industry and council stakeholders and city innovators e.g Josephmark.

Audrey Melnik

Founder and Partner at Funnel Ventures, Australian serial entrepreneur and startup founder, currently resides in Tel Aviv or Silicon Valley. Audrey was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in March 2016, where stakeholder engagement included public lectures at local startup accelerators (RCL, ilabs, QUT CEA). Roundtable discussions with Brisbane’s successful female entrepreneurs, industry and state government. Regional visit to accelerators in Toowoomba and Ipswich.

Danny Maher

Danny spends most of his time in the Silicon Valley, Latin America, Asia and Europe and when in Australia calls the Gold Coast home. Having built and exited a number of highly successful tech companies around the world, Danny was named 2015 Australian CEO of the year ahead.  He was a part of the Visiting Entrepreneur program in November 2015, where stakeholder engagement included a fireside chat facilitated by Cat Matson at Blue Sky for the investment community. Public lecture at local startup accelerator RCL.
